Diagnosed with colorectal cancer. Fortunately with advances in technology now it’s the most curable form of disease

Colorectal cancer has become very common and is considered as the leading cause of cancer-related deaths. But you don’t need to worry about as now the technology has reached to great heights and curing such diseases has now become easier for the colonoscopy dr.

These cancers are related to the inner lining of the large intestine which is known as colon. Sometimes the doctor may detect the tumors in the last part of the digestive system known as rectum. Mostly these tumors are benign but can become cancerous. The cancerous tumors are often silent and do not produce symptoms until they develop large in size. However, the colorectal cancer can be cured if detected at an early stage.

Why a colorectal cancer occurs?

Polyps which usually grow on the inner lining of the colon are the main reason behind the development of colorectal cancer. These are generally non-cancerous but some of them can result in cancer.

There exists two types of polyps namely hyperplastic polyps and adenomatous polyps. The hyperplastic polyps are usually not cancerous but if they are on the right side of the colon, it’s a matter of concern.

The adenomatous polyps on the other hand if left untreated could develop into cancer so they should be treated at an early stage before they become cancerous. You must consult the gastroenterologist specialist in case you experience any abnormal symptoms related to your digestive tract.

Symptoms produced by colon cancer

Usually, colon cancer does not cause any symptoms but here are some of the common symptoms that might persist in case you are suffering from colorectal cancer.

Diarrhea, constipation and change in the bowel habits, no satisfactory bowel movement, bleeding in the rectum, bloody and dark stools, abdominal pain, fatigue, and weight loss are some of the symptoms that might occur due to colon cancer.

Colon screening- an important part of the treatment

Detecting the colon cancer or polyps gives a better chance to the doctor to cure the disease. People should go for a colonoscopy screening early in case they have family history of colon cancer. The screening usually includes colonoscopy, stool test, blood test etc.

If the colon cancer is detected early, the doctor will usually resort to removing the cancerous growth from the colon in order to stop any further multiplication of the tumor. The patients might undergo chemotherapy so that the cancer cells should not spread any further.
